Chapel in the Woods

Tucked beneath a canopy of towering trees and just steps from the beauty of Lake Erie, our Chapel in the Woods is one of the most beloved spaces at Pioneer on the Lake.

This open-air sanctuary has been a sacred gathering place for generations. With simple metal benches, a handcrafted cross, and the sounds of wind in the leaves and waves in the distance, the Chapel offers a peaceful setting to slow down, reflect, and worship.

Throughout the summer, churches host Sunday services here, retreat groups gather for prayer, and campers experience powerful moments of faith in a setting that feels both intimate and eternal. There is something uniquely powerful about worshiping surrounded by God’s creation — no walls, no distractions, just His presence.

Weather permitting, Sunday services are held in The Chapel in the Woods select Sundays throughout the summer. In the case of rain, gatherings may be moved Hickman Hall.
